Usenet news groups are very cool and offer a lot of useful information and photos for work and hobbies. As a helicopter fan, I follow binary news groups for photos. I am archiving all posted aviation pictures, and here you can find a wide variety of subjects. Normally, files on the news server are taken down within a few days of posting; my intention is to archive all of the posted images, so users will have an alternate long-term source. These news groups are currently monitored:
